Even as Juan Uribe is connecting on his fourth hit of the game, he still looks depressed.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA….”
- Earvin “Magic” Johnson
“Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt has announced an agreement Tuesday night to sell the bankrupt team for $2 billion to a group that includes former Lakers star Magic Johnson and former Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals president Stan Kasten.
The agreement, revealed about five hours after Major League Baseball owners approved three finalists for the auction, is to lead to a transfer of the team by the end of April. It is subject to approval in federal bankruptcy court.
Mark Walter, chief executive officer of the financial services firm Guggenheim Partners would become the controlling owner. The price would be easily a record for a North American sports franchise.
As part of the agreement, the Dodgers said McCourt and “certain affiliates of the purchasers” would acquire the land surrounding Dodger Stadium for $150 million. A source with knowledge of the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told ESPNLosAngeles.com’s Tony Jackson that means the group will purchase half the Dodger Stadium parking lots, which were deemed to have a total value of $300 million, with McCourt keeping the other half. The source said it has yet to be determined how that relationship will work and whether the new ownership group still will be forced to lease the McCourt-owned half of the lots.”

Universal Baseball Necessities: More Vin Scully
There is a petition that is aiming to make it so Fox lets Vin Scully call one more World Series. I don’t sign many petitions, but this one is IMPORTANT damn it. Click here or on the picture above to sign. Go ahead and re-blog this as well.

Things always tend to start coming apart when things go bad. It’s starting to happen for the Dodgers, or should I say, it’s been ongoing since the divorce of the McCourt’s has been filed. The latest ripple involves the mystery that is OF Matt Kemp. Sometimes great. Sometimes juvenile. It’s easy to see him as the punching bag of the Dodgers management and organization, but you have to realize that his inconsistency is somewhat of an issue.
LA Times (and Around the Horn’s) Bill Plaschke wrote a pretty balanced article today that discusses Kemp’s agent Dave Stewart (not the Eurythmics dude) and his suggestion that MK is no longer welcome or maybe not necessary wearing the Dodger Blue.
It’s an intriguing read, and if you’re a Kemp fan (like most of Dodger Nation) it is somewhat disconcerting. I sincerely hope both sides can get over this and continue on. Even if they gave up Kemp, I don’t think it’d solve as much problems as everyone thinks.

Ronald Belisario took an unexplained leave of absence from the Dodgers for the month of July, but with the Dodgers barely holding on in the pennant race, the team welcomed his return. He gave up a home run in his first game back, but no big deal, the Dodgers were up 11-4. Then came last night.
Jonathan Broxton is getting a lot of flak for blowing a three-run lead in the ninth, but when Belisario came into the game, LA was up 9-2. Then Belisario gave up three singles and a double without getting anyone out, mixing in a wild pitch and a balk for good measure. His stats since coming back from his leave?
